Mobile Payer Obopay Goes To India

REDWOOD CITY, CA -- Mobile payment developer Obopay has announced its intention to expand to India, with the appointment of Aditya Menon to spearhead the company's efforts there.

According to the company, India is the world's fastest growing mobile market with more than 120 million customers and six million new customers added every month.

Obopay's cell-phone based service allows users to send money, give gifts, pay each other and make purchases from their mobile phone.  The company is backed by Redpoint Ventures, ONSET Ventures and Qualcomm.
